My name is Patrick Moates, a Level Designer and a Graduate from the Southern Methodists University's Guildhall Program. I completed my bachelor's degree in Creative Writing in 2008 at Florida State University.
My passions are immersion, consequence, narrative, and the kind of details requisite to create and maintain said immersion. In my studies at the Guildhall I've focused on the design aspect and visual composition of Level Design.
I implemented the featured for VIRP:VR's proof of concept for an immersion therapy project in Unreal Engine 4.
Before that I finished my work with Double Loop as a design consultant, writing documentation, making stage iterations and a campaign beat chart to help determine when player abilities would be available in the course of the game.
Prior to launching my studies at the Guildhall I worked on several contracting projects for CCP on their flagship title, EVE Online. Finally, I’ve served as a level designer on numerous student driven team projects, including Fathom (2011), and Love Me (2012).

I've never been afraid to push my abilities in the pursuit of making the player feel like they are a part of something compelling. I pride myself in coming up with innovative gameplay, and Implementing it, along with unique environments that feel real. I'm here to entertain players and work with amazing team members. I personally want to grow as a developer and work in a dynamic environment solving problems, the kind of environment that only the game industry can provide.
